DIYODE Manifesto

I hate to say it, but I think we’ve gone off the tracks. We’ve lost our can-do attitude. We are a generation who would rather buy something than make it. Who would rather throw something away than fix it. More kids are swinging Wii remotes than hammers, and the venerable soap box derby has been completely displaced by Mariokart. Is this something that we are going to stand for, or are we going to fight it?

You can help DIYODE by Voting for their submission on the Pepsi RefreshEverything Contest, you may also sign up for reminders to vote on the Diyode site.

Come join Guelph Coffee and Code, Thursday 6-8pm at The Albion Hotel in Guelph.

This weeks event is a technology social, come join fellow developers and technology specialists to talk about code, industry trends, or just enjoy a night out with some like minded developers.

Also on Thursday, Joey DeVilla (@AccordianGuy), Anthony Bartolo (@WirelessLife) from Microsoft Canada and Mark Arteaga (@MarkArteaga) from RedBit will be hosting a Coffee & Code focusing on Windows Phone 7.

If you are developing for WP7 and have questions this is a great place to get your questions answered. Since a physical Windows Phone 7 device seems to be at a premium these days [not for long] you may even get to test your app on a real device!

The event will be held at Starbucks located at 4 King St West, Toronto, ON between 12pm and 7pm [lots of time to talk windows phone].

This FREE event is to focus on current, or hopeful Windows Phone 7 developers, also to reach out to the indie-coder.

If you are in the Toronto area and are planning to come let Mark know via his blog or twitter @MarkArteaga!
