HackGuelph User Survey

02 Jan

Hey folks!

The HackGuelph User Survey is now available! Please take a few minutes to fill it out. The results collected in the survey will help to shape HackGuelph in the coming year. All questions are optional and the survey is anonymous.

You’ll have to forgive me for being so late on this. I had hoped to get the user survey out before Christmas, but I’ve clearly missed that by more than a week. Because of this, and because the results of the survey may lead to scheduling changes anyway, I’m not planning on scheduling any new HackGuelph meetings until February.

In the meantime there are a number of other great events coming up:

HackGuelph: May 5

27 Apr

The next HackGuelph is scheduled for May 5 (next Thursday).

There is currently an open call for presentations. From the announcement:

It doesn’t have to be formal or anything… Introduce us to a tool that you’ve been using, demo an obscure language, show off some code that you wrote, whatever you want.

If you would like to demo something next week I encourage you to join the mailing list and let us know.

Update: Agenda

Alright, folks. Sorry this is so last-minute.

  • Jeremy Cook (@jcook21) will be talking about the Yellow Pages API and Rendezview, the cool application he built with it.
  • We’ll likely hack on some code.
  • And as always we’ll head over to the Woolwich Arrow afterwards.

I’m sad to be missing this meeting—I missed Jeremy’s Yellow Pages/Rendezview presentation at the Guelph Web Maker Meetup last night, and now I won’t be able to see him at HackGuelph, either. Oh, well.

Have fun!

New name, domain, Twitter account and mailing list

23 Apr

At our last meeting we took a vote and decided to rename the group. Guelph Coffee and Code will henceforth be known as Hack Guelph. We have put up some basic content at http://hackguelph.ca/.

We also have a new Twitter account and mailing list. If you would like to receive updates we recommend that you follow/join both of these.

Moving to the new domain will be a gradual process. This blog, for instance, will currently stay active at its existing location. The current @GCNC Twitter account is also likely to stay active for a while.

We hope that this change will be minimally disruptive. Please contact Chris if you have any concerns.
